An Evening with Jazz Bassist Kelly Sill and Drummer Jack Mouse
KELLY SILL has been a mainstay of the Chicago jazz scene for more than 35 years. He has performed and recorded with a vast array of jazz artists, including Art Blakey, Joe Henderson, Art Farmer, Eddie Jefferson, Clark Terry, Cedar Walton and a host of others. His discography includes more than 50 recordings. He has performed at the Chicago Jazz Festival, the Elkhart Jazz Festival, the Red Sea Jazz Festival, Thessaloniki Concert Hall in Greece and Symphony Center in Chicago. JACK MOUSE was already performing in his teens with such musical greats as Buddy Morrow and Red Norvo. He was featured soloist with the "Falconaires," the official jazz ensemble of the U.S. Air Force Academy. He has since performed with a wide range of outstanding jazz artists, including Stan Kenton, Clark Terry, Herb Ellis, Joe Williams, James Moody, Randy Brecker, Bob Mintzer and many others. Mouse's recording output spans over a wide range of jazz styles, from his own compositions to free improvisation. His new release "Intimate Adversary" has garnered rave reviews and international radio airplay. Currently, he is associate professor of music and coordinator of jazz studies at North Central College. Joining them for this concert will be fellow members of the College's highly-esteemed jazz studies program. This season's series is co-presented by Flashpoint Creative Arts, whose goal is to promote greater understanding of and participation in the art of improvisation with innovative artistic and educational experiences that draw people more deeply into the improvisatory process.
