Pianist Chris White hails from Toronto, Canada. After obtaining a B.A. in English from the University of Toronto, he decided to focus his studies entirely on music. While pursuing his Masters degree in Jazz Studies from Indiana's prestigious Jacobs School of Music, he performed with the Bloomington Symphony, David Baker, Jamey Aebersold and Oliver Nelson, Jr. In 2010 he completed his Doctoral of Musical Arts in Jazz Performance at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Currently Chris is a busy freelance musician in the Chicago area. He has recorded two CDs, Young at Heart and Tributaries. Currently a faculty member of the Shell Lake Improvisation and Combo Camp, he also served on the faculty of the Janice Borla Vocal Jazz Camp.
This year a "Question/Answer" session will follow each concert to give audiences an opportunity to engage directly with the featured artists.
This series is co-presented by Flashpoint Creative Arts, a nonprofit organization founded by vocalist Janice Borla and drummer Jack Mouse, promoting improvisation as an invaluable life skill and presenting innovative artistic and educational experiences meant to draw people into the improvisatory process.
