DuPage Symphony Orchestra, "From the Heart of Europe"
Two pinnacles of Romanticism usher in 2019: Beethoven's captivating Violin Concerto, Op. 61, and Dvorak's tuneful Symphony No. 6 in D Major. Beethoven's masterpiece, which was at the time of its premiere considered both unsatisfying and unplayable, comes to life with the "fiery virtuosity" and "impeccable intonation" of Concert Artists Guild Competition Winner YouJin Jang as soloist. Dvorak's charming and lyrical Sixth Symphony, featured in the second half of the concert, draws its inspiration both from the model of Beethoven and Brahms and from the folk music, dance rhythms, and national spirit of the composer's beloved Czech homeland.
