The Lux Veritas Speaker Series welcomes Layton Williams from Sojourners to explore the intersection of politics, social justice, faith, and vocation in the midst of the political tension of today’s society. Layton Williams works with Sojourners as the Audience Engagement Associate. Her work combines data analysis, creative communications, new media strategy, and relationship building to grow the Sojourners community in both breadth and depth. She is also a writer, focusing on intersections of faith, justice, politics, and culture with an emphasis on sexuality and gender.
Before joining the Sojourners staff, Layton served at Fourth Presbyterian Church in downtown Chicago. She grew up in Atlanta, then lived in Austin, Texas, for six years where she served as an AmeriCorps volunteer and nonprofit educator. She holds a B.A. in English from the University of Georgia and an M.Div from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary. She was ordained as a minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA) in 2014. The Lux Veritas Speaker series—drawing from North Central College's religious and academic heritage—engages our community in conversations with leaders whose faith motivates them to transform the world. Inspired by our college seal, a lamp representing "light" and a book representing "truth," these events connect us with leaders that explore important issues in a spirit of truth while spreading light into the world as a means to live out our purpose.
