Join college students, educators and artists from the region for workshops, mentoring, panel discussions and more at the Self Employment in the Arts (SEA) Conference Feb. 26-27. All activities are focused on turning your creative passion into a living. Registration is open to college students, high school students, educators and the community. The 16th Annual SEA Conference will be held at the Hilton Hotel in Lisle, Illinois.
Keynote speakers include Dionna Griffin-Irons from The Second City Chicago and Tom Sharpe, drummer for Mannheim Steamroller.
The event starts at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26, and concludes at 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27. More than 50 presenters will be on hand from a variety of creative fields, including the visual, literary, performing and media arts. They will be leading workshops, participating in panel discussions, overseeing small roundtable discussions and providing one-on-one mentoring.
Additional activities include a Juried College Art Competition sponsored by Millikin University, Pitch Competition, Dance Showcase, Gallery Reception, and late-night activity rooms, including the Create Room sponsored by Blick Art Materials and University of St. Francis, Improv Room sponsored by Beloit College, the Salsa, Swing & More room, Electroskip dance technology demonstration, Spikeball and more.
