Join us for an opening reception and artist talk with Monika Wulfers!
Based in Chicago, German artist and North Central College alumna Monika Wulfers '68 explores our perception of lines through striking, minimal sculptures and paintings. Placement, scale, and other mathematical concepts relating to objects in space are an important part of her work. Her dynamic large-scale sculptures are created with light tubes suspended over the ground. The tubes are all of equal length but as you walk around the sculptures the length and angle of the lines change, so how we see the art can vary based on our height and distance, giving each viewer a unique experience.
"My light tubes outline three-dimensional polygons. Installations are improvisational, and each work is unique every time it is 'performed'. Viewers are invited to enter the work and become part of it." Wulfers is a 1968 graduate of North Central College.
