Madai Taylor Artist Reception "Alone in My Mind"
Mixing earth (soil) with paint, Madai Taylor's expressive abstract paintings explore themes of disintegration, regeneration and reproduction through an emphasis on natural forms and organic materials. Madai explains, "I think that earth has a spiritual quality of all that is human...we were all created from the earth and to the earth we shall return. That’s something everybody can identify with." The impression of spontaneity gleamed from the abstract expressionist style veils the complexity of his paintings which are rich in layers of texture and colors inherent to the earth. The exhibit is free and open to the public in the College's Oesterle Library Gallery, 320 E. School St. An artist reception will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 31; complimentary refreshments will be served. The Oesterle Library Gallery is open Monday through Friday 8am-8pm, Saturday 9am-5pm, and Sunday 12pm-8pm. To learn more about the exhibit contact Nickole C. Lanham, North Central's gallery director, at 630-637-5375 or nclanham@noctrl.edu.
