A community panel discussion, titled "Steps Toward Religious Understanding," will take place at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, as part of the College's Anti-Hate Week. Panelists who represent Muslim, Sikh and Christian faith organizations as well as community leaders will discuss several recent hate crimes perpetrated on religious grounds. In today's society, we daily encounter people of different faiths and hear a variety of misinformation and opinions through social and popular media. Panelists will discuss ways we can move forward through activism, community building and even legislation. Sponsored by the Office of Ministry and Service, the event will be moderated by Rev. Eric Doolittle, College chaplain. Panelists include: Sadia Covert, attorney and civil rights activist; Tom Cordano, One Naperville; Manilyn Gumapas '18, Mosaic student organization; Youssef Mekawy '18, Muslim Student Association; Harsimran Kaur, legal director, The Sikh Coalition.
