Gallery Reception, "PTSD Nation: Art and Poetry from Survivors of War, Gun Violence, and Domestic Abuse,"
Join us for a gallery reception and discussion with Diana Bilovsky, director/curator of the exhibition titled "PTSD Nation: Art and Poetry from Survivors of War, Gun Violence, and Domestic Abuse." On display Feb. 8-April 2 in North Central College's Oesterle Library Gallery, 320 E. School St., the exhibit is free and open to the public. An artist reception will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 8; complimentary refreshments will be served. Through poetry and art, which have been created entirely by people who live with post-traumatic stress disorder, "PTSD Nation" presents a simulated experience of what it's like to acquire and live with PTSD. The two-year traveling exhibit also provides a variety of information about PTSD, the ways stress and reactions to extreme traumas have been historically treated, and tips for survivors, their loved ones and society as a whole. The exhibit includes a Wall of Heroes, featuring biographical information about each participant and their many accomplishments while living with PTSD. The Oesterle Library Gallery is open Monday through Friday 8am-8pm, Saturday 9am-5pm and Sunday noon-8pm. To learn more about the exhibit contact Nickole C. Lanham at 630-637-5375 or nclanhammurray@noctrl.edu.
