Speaker: 2011 Nobel Peace Laureate Tawakkol Karman
Tawakkol Karman is the youngest and first Yemeni, first Arab woman and second Muslim woman to win a Nobel Peace Prize. She will share her experiences as a journalist, politician and human rights activist in a public talk at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 3, in North Central College's Wentz Concert Hall at the Fine Arts Center, 171 E. Chicago Ave. Karman became the public face of the 2011 Yemeni uprising as part of the Jasmine Revolution, her term for the Arab Spring. This is her only stop while in the United States and the College's last event of its three-year Global Human Rights focus. Admission is free.
