Chicago Sinfonietta performs "Identities" in Wentz Concert Hall at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 11. Tickets are $54 and $42/adults, $10/children and students. Experience a mood-setting juxtaposition between the ethnic identities of the Eastern European Jews and the Chinese, which are connected by the Silk Road. Led by Mei-Ann Chen, the performance moves from Jewish culture with gypsy-jazz tinged Klezmer music, to being entranced by the lush, lyrical sounds of the guzheng, a Chinese folk instrument. The guest appearances will include Maxwell Street Klezmer Band and Su Chang, featuring works by Levinson, Shapiro/Cheng and Enescu.
