Event Details:
"The Awakenings Project"
Presented by The Arient Family Begun in 1996, "The Awakenings Project" is an assemblage of talented artists in DuPage County and surrounding areas, all of whom have a psychiatric malady. Shown art represents the broad range of work that these artists create, from casual paintings, sculptures and photographs by amateurs, to seasoned works by professional artists. "The Awakenings Project" underscores the ability of artists to communicate the essence of mental illness: its experience, its pain and its reality- or in the case of some, its detachment from reality. The exhibit communicates the remarkable talent that people with mental illness possess and proves they can organize and conduct themselves in such a fashion as to create stunning exhibits and likewise show and sell their artwork. Schoenherr art gallery is located 171 E. Chicago Ave., Naperville, IL, 60540. Gallery Hours: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
