Naperville Men's Glee Club Spring Invitational Showcase
The Naperville Men's Glee Club (NMGC) will stage the “NMGC Spring Invitational Showcase 2014” at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 23, in North Central College's Wentz Concert Hall at the Fine Arts Center, 171 E. Chicago Ave. This exciting event showcases seven top local amateur singers and singing groups in concert with the Glee Club. Offering diverse music genres, this high-energy, entertaining program will include today’s pop songs, favorites from the '70s and '80s, movie hits such as "Don’t Rain on my Parade" and "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," jazz tunes, patriotic songs and gospel music. Tickets are available at www.nmgc.org or from any NMGC member for $18/adults, $12/senior citizens and $10/students. Tickets purchased at the door an hour before the concert will be $20/adults and $15/senior citizens. Children 5 and younger are admitted free. Sold prior to the event, groups of 10 or more may purchase for $7 each.
Selected through audition, the vocal acts performing in the Showcase are: Emily Palmeri (pop soloist from Waubonsie Valley High School), IF (an adult contemporary gospel group), Apollo (a male ensemble from Metea Valley High School), Sleight Street (an adult jazz/pop group from Naperville), The Chorelles (a self-directed female group from Naperville Central High School), Hawkappella (the Naperville Central Redhawk Men's Chorus), and The Boys Choir /Young Men's Chorus from Young Naperville Singers (the premier city-wide chorus of school-aged male singers). This event is sponsored in part by the City of Naperville SECA and the Illinois Arts Council.
