Jim Peterik and World Stage
Grammy-winning recording artist, Jim Peterik and World Stage perform Jan. 18 at North Central College. The performance begins at 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, in North Central College's Wentz Concert Hall at the Fine Arts Center, 171 E. Peterik, a singer, songwriter and guitarist, has sold millions of albums worldwide. His songs "The Search is Over" and "Eye of the Tiger" have become modern classics, covered by everyone from Paul Anka to local high schools. The Berwyn native started the band Survivor in the '70s, combining his love for melody and driving rock. Peterik co-wrote a variety of Survivor songs, including "The Eye of the Tiger" from the film "Rocky lll." This undeniable classic earned him Grammy and People's Choice awards, as well as an Oscar nomination. In the late '90s, Peterik decided to move on from Survivor, in hopes of creating the ultimate rock show. On Jan. 11, 2000, at the Norris Cultural Arts Center in St. Charles, Peterik premiered World Stage. This show assembled the very best artists Peterik has associated with through his many years in music, including some of the greatest artists from the '70s, '80s and today, such as Mickey Thomas of Starship, Kevin Cronin of REO Speedwagon,Colin Peterik, Tom Keifer of Cinderella and many more. World Stage's North Central College performance will feature musical legends The Ides of March, Peterik's first Grammy Award-winning band ("Vehicle"); Leslie Hunt, "American Idol" alum and lead singer of rock/metal band District 97; Mike Reno, frontman for Loverboy; David Pack, producer and co-founder, guitarist and main vocalist for the band Ambrosia; Kelly Keagy, drummer for Night Ranger and songwriter; and Keith Burns, founding member of platinum-selling trio Trick Pony.
