The DuPage Symphony Orchestra (DSO) opens its 60th season in a year that coincides with milestone anniversaries of some of the great master composers. The DSO's musical celebration begins with the Overture to "Rienzi" by Richard Wagner on his 200th birthday, the "Intermezzo" from "Cavalleria Rusticana" by Pietro Mascagni on his 150th birthday and the sweeping "Four Sea Interludes" by Benjamin Britten on his 100th. Tchaikovsky's beloved Piano Concerto No. 1 in B-flat Major caps the evening, with acclaimed young soloist Daria Rabotkina, "a pianist full of fire and warmth" (The Cleveland Plain-Dealer), boasting remarkable "talent, poise, technical power, and stage presence" (Winnipeg Free Press).
