"Concerns" art exhibit by George Lorio
George Lorio has a frame of vision inspired by his New Orleans background. It was and continues to be a place of extremes: beauty and decay, religion and ritual, custom and iconoclasm. "From that experience, I acquired an excitement for visual matters, colors, forms and even artifacts. Before moving to the Rio Grande Valley, my sculpture employed a constructed metaphor to nature with 10 years, my imagery has grown more topical. Presently, I use an image of irony with constructed and found forms as a means to convey my comments on the privilege or class, immigration and social hierarchy." The exhibit in Schoenherr Gallery is open to the public. Schoenherr Gallery is located at the Fine Art Center, 171 E. Chicago Ave., and is open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, 10a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays and Saturdays, noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays, and will be open one hour before most performances in the Fine Arts Center.
