Richard Strauss's monumental tone poem "Don Quixote"--based on the magnum opus of Miguel de Cervantes and scored for solo violoncello, viola and huge orchestra--culminates the DuPage Symphony's yearlong celebration of great music inspired by great literature. Soloist Sebastian Bäverstam, praised by The Strad for his "powerfully expressive style" and "consummate instrumental mastery," joins the DSO in this extraordinary work. Schumann's "Manfred Overture" and Tchaikovsky's exhilarating "Francesca da Rimini" are featured on the first half of the program, completing the inspirational thread for the DSO's season of "Great Expectations."
