Hill Harper Martin Luther King Week keynote address
North Central College is excited to welcome Hill Harper as the keynote speaker for the annual celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The talented actor, author and philanthropist will speak about his life, his work and effecting social change in his keynote address, "Being an Active Architect of Your Own Life," on Monday, Jan. 21 at 5 p.m. in Wentz Concert Hall. A star of the TV drama "CSI: NY" and author of four New York Times bestsellers, Harper has earned seven NAACP Image Awards for his writing and acting. He is founder of the Manifest Your Destiny Foundation, which serves youth through mentorship, scholarship and grant programs.
Harper graduated magna cum laude as valedictorian of his department with a B.A. from Brown University, and cum laude with a J.D. from Harvard Law School. He also holds a master's degree with honors from Harvard's Kennedy School of Government. Harper travels frequently as a motivational speaker addressing a wide range of audiences including youth, adults, couples and business leaders. In July 2010, Harper was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. His bestselling book, "The Wealth Cure," chronicles the cancer diagnosis and his journey to health.
