"From its opening video images of immigrants arriving at Ellis Island to the final shots of the Statue of Liberty, Peter Boyery's 'Ellis Island: The Dream of America' is a work of rare authenticity and directness." (Los Angeles Times) It celebrates the immigrant experience and American dream with historical images, actors and full orchestra. The DSO's presentation of this remarkable piece marks a collaboration between the DSO and North Central College's theatre department, cultural events committee and Office of International Programs. Antonin Dvorak's heart-warming Symphony No. 9 in E minor, "From the New World," opens the program. The performance begins at 8 p.m. in Wentz Concert Hall, 171 E.
