This annual poetry slam celebrates the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr, through verse! This year's featured poet, New York's
Carlos Andres Gomez , will perform along with other area poets and students. Gomez, a former social worker and public school teacher in NY and Philly, has traveled the world to perform, in addition to his film and TV work - starring in Spike Lee's hit film "Inside Man" (Universal), and on HBO's "Russel Simmons presents DEF POETRY" (voted viewer's favorite). He has also claimed victory at the 2006 Toronto International Poetry Slam, won the 2009 Artist of the Year Award at the Promoting Outstanding Writers Awards, and has been a two-time finalist in the National Poetry Slam.
