A Gothic thriller filmed in Northern Spain, with producer Benito del Toro. Spanish director Juan Antonio Bayona creates a frightening film about an abandoned orphanage with a disturbing past. Spanish students should make an effort to understand the actors' Castillian accent. The theme of the Lost Boys and Peter Pan is central to the film. This movie is told from the perspective of the mother. There is also a reference to the ghost story in The Turn of The Screw.The musical score plays an important roles as well beautifully narrating the story.
