Schola Cantorum de Venezuela (SCV, formerly Schola Cantorum de Caracas) is one of the most important choral societies belonging to the growing choral movement in Venezuela. Boasting a broad range of collections to its name, the mix of the choir's repertoire includes works from Spanish, Italian, French and English Renaissance to contemporary Venezuelan and universal composers. SCV was founded in 1967 by Alberto Grau, Venezuelan composer and conductor, and works under the sponsorship of the Fundacion Schola Cantorum de Venezuela -- a nonprofit organization that oversees several other choirs, providing a complete system to promote and develop choral music in Venezuela. The performance begins at 8 p.m. in Wentz Concert Hall, 171 E. Chicago Ave. Tickets are $50 and $40; call the box office at 630-637-SHOW (7469) or visit www.northcentralcollege.edu/showtix to order your tickets.
