Figurative Prints by Will Barnet
Born in 1911, Will Barnet knew by the age of ten that he wanted to be an artist. Barnet's works, while remaining universal, reference his own personal history complete with images of his wife, his daughter and their family pets. Barnet has had one of the longest and most distinguished careers in the history of American art. This marks the first time an Illinois college or university has hosted an exhibit of Barnet’s works. An opening reception will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 12. The exhibit is underwritten by J.P. Morgan, a leader in financial services and supporter of the JPMorgan Chase Art Collection, one of the world’s largest and oldest corporate art collections. The exhibit is in Schoenherr Gallery and is open to the public. Schoenherr Gallery is located at the Fine Art Center, 171 E Chicago Ave. The exhibit will be open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays and Saturdays, noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays, and one hour before most performances in the Fine Arts Center. Contact Nickole C. Lanham, North Central’s gallery director, at nclanhammmurray@noctrl.edu to learn more about Holiday Hours.
