North Central College student art show featuring the works of Megan Brooks and Katie Hannan. The show "Commonplace" will be exhibited Oct. 1-31 in North Central College’s Meiley-Swallow Hall Gallery, 31 S. Ellsworth St., Naperville with an artists reception on October 12, 6-8pm
Students Megan Brooks of Aurora and Katie Hannan of Rockford took inspiration from regular encounters to create extraordinary art. The students’ works include painting, drawing, printmaking, digital photography, ceramics and sculpture.
"The artwork in this show revolves around places that have played a significant role in our lives," Brooks and Hannan said in an artists’ statement about the show. "From a grocery store in Paw Paw, Ill. to a ranch in Arizona, our surroundings have inspired us as artists. Though our various locations seem common, our work seeks to glorify them and reflect their importance in our lives."
The Meiley-Swallow Hall Gallery is open Mondays through Thursdays from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., Fridays from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
